God is Good – All The Time

Dick and Lee Pestke’s Entire Interview

Dick: Good morning beautiful;

Lee: Good morning handsome!  WOW, we’ve been saying that to each other for a lot of years.

Dick:  Yes, in August it will be 69 years!  Who would have ever imagined?  What’s on our agenda today, beautiful?

Lee:  We’ll have to put our thinking caps on these grey haired heads and put “our story” together for the Women’s Newsletter.  Where do we even begin?

Dick:  That’s easy - let’s start at the beginning – remember how we met?  Just hanging out with friends at John Marshall High School you certainly caught my attention – it was those beautiful legs!

Lee:  Oh, you haven’t changed!  We did have wonderful times though.  Dating was so different then.  We just hung around with so many good friends.  Remember your 1931 Model A Roadster?  We’d all climb into that and head off to Seneca Park; of course not forgetting to always throw in the hand cranked record player – we didn’t want to miss our time to dance and laugh.

Looking Back...

Words cannot declare how much we treasure our marriage, our home and each member of our family.  Except for our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we know of nothing that brings more satisfaction than time spent with each other over the last 50 years.   Our immediate family has grown from the two of us to a family of 5, and now we happily enjoy an extended family of 23.  We all experience life “in the fast lane”.   Each member is active, creative, growing and learning.  We place a high premium on mutual respect and trust.   We enjoy discussing issues and often help each other with projects.

My Husband - My Friend, and Tips to Keep It That Way

I’ve known him since we were kids. We were high school sweethearts. Here we are 45 years later, and about to celebrate 38 years of marriage.  My husband, my friend… I don’t always understand him or always like him, but – he’s my friend.  He’s my best friend.

He laughs at me, and I laugh at him, and sometimes we just laugh together.  We go to church and he has taught me what Christian love and sacrifice is all about. He has been by my side for the births of our ten children.  He has been with me through both good times and bad. He tells jokes and cooks breakfast, lunch, and dinner, when I haven’t been able to.
