The last 30 days went by like a flash - although this culture is much slower paced, I often wonder where the time goes. We had a very successful Resurrection Conference in which 5 men from the States came to help with the preaching at district locations throughout Zambia. Of the districts that reported back - there were more than 2,000 people in attendance, some 160+ people saved, and 80 adults baptized! We certainly rejoice in all the Lord continues to do as the preaching of God's word cannot be bound. After the Resurrection Conference - we hosted a Pastor's Refresher Course here at Kafulafuta in which 65-70 pastors came from throughout Zambia to be edified & challenged - the theme of the conference was "being a doer of the word of God." Again, many of the men left encouraged and ready to continue in the fight. The first term of Bible Institute concluded. I wish I could report that everything went smooth but this last term was difficult for both student and teacher alike. We are taking the next 4 weeks as a break to prepare for the second term as well as make some minor changes that should better help the students be prepared for life and ministry outside of school. I preached and taught at the following churches: - Lemba Bible Baptist Church - Chilimulilo Bible Baptist Church - Country side Bible Baptist Church As I meet with these churches, certainly the emphasis is on preaching the gospel and encouraging the brethren through God's word. However, one of my goals for 2008 is to see more maturity from the churches. After each service I am consciously spending time with the church leaders to help see their needs, encourage them in certain areas of weakness, and solidifying their areas of strength. Please pray for the following: 1. Upcoming trip to Mwinilunga. Will be having a mini-conference with about 40-50 leaders. 2. The preparation for second term of Bible Institute. 3. The resources and knowledge to bring both chicken and fish farms online. 4. Wisdom and meekness to lead and make right decisions. 5. Discernment on whether to attempt a preaching trip to Burundi. It is a great joy to serve our Lord here in Zambia. I appreciate all those that are helping this work to thrive and move forward. Sometimes a simple 'thank you' does not seem sufficient.
