Dear Friends and Supporters,

Image
Jonny and I learned that we have both been accepted to Moody Bible Institute for the Fall!
With the writing of this letter comes the sad reality that I have spent my last week with Encounter ministering in local churches. God has blessed me with many friendships and ministry opportunities along the way, all the while using various people to impact and encourage me.

April began with the Team in Lewisburg, WV, at Grace Baptist Church. Jonny, Chris, and I stayed with the Crawfords once again, which proved to be a blessing. It was during this week that God allowed me to come down with the flu (or something), which taught me a lot about being patient with God's timing. I also caught up with a former camper, Chris, who I had been able to have an impact on during summer camp.

From here, we returned to Harrisburg to rest for a week. (Actually, Ardy put us to work at camp with classes and work projects, so it wasn't exactly a vacation.) Using knowledge I have gained at G&T SportsPark, I was able to work on the ballfield (which is in sore need), prepping it for the summer. On Friday, Jonny V. and I were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Lynnae Whitmore and Jennifer Kemp from Rochester.

From camp, we headed to Gap, PA, to Pequea Baptist Church, accompanied by Jenn and Lynnae. I was blessed to spend the first part of the week visiting with Jenn before they headed home. Jonny and I stayed with a younger couple, the Zooks, and their eight-year-old son Toby. A lot of the population here was Amish and the land was some of the most picturesque I have seen. The Team had never been to this church before so it was again neat to see how the people here responded to Encounter. Along with the ministry in the church, it was a blessing to get outside and help a little with grounds keeping— my personal stress reliever. At the end of the week, I had definitely established some attachments at the church.

Next, we went to Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle in Honesdale, PA—Kevin and Stefanie's home church. Just like last year, Jonny, Nick, and I stayed with John and Betty Lowe. During this week, we had the opportunity for many extra ministries, including a ministry to mothers of kindergartners and after-school sessions with elementary students. I had a particularly good time with the elementary students on Tuesday and Wednesday because they helped me to get out of my “comfort zone.” The week ended well with my being able to talk with a lot of the teens in teen club, encouraging them in the Lord.

On to Watsontown Alliance Church and Academy, where Amelio and I stayed with Frank and Becky Bachman and their daughter Melinda. The school here was small, but that didn't hinder us from anything we set out to do. We had both elementary and high school chapels every day except one, and every day we got to sit with the students at lunch and had a great time talking with them. Thursday night, instead of having a regular service, the church put on a prayer service be-cause it was the National Day of Prayer. I was especially blessed in reading Daniel 9:1-19 during that service.

Our final church was Grace Baptist Church in Muncy, PA. Jonny and I stayed with the Eisele's again, and had a great time catching up from last year. Tuesday, we were able to visit a local public high school and conduct a chapel for the students. There were around 170 students that came, many of whom had never even heard of the Team before, so we had an excellent time with them. The week ended early with us packing up after Wednesday evening service and returning to camp.

Let me just say a brief thank you to all of you who continue to stay updated and who continue to support me in prayer and finances. God has provided for me in every circumstance, for which I am continually thankful, but I still would ask you to pray for the ministry. There are only a few more months left of my ministry with Encounter, and I want to be able to say I finished strong.

In Christ,

Ethan
