We continue to press on as July comes to an end. Looking back, this has been an extremely busy month. A team from Alabama came to Kafulafuta early-July and taught about 70 Pastors for one week. The Spirit of God really moved in the teaching and preaching. After 6 hours of teaching each day and a message preached each night, most of the pastors left the mission edified and equipped. It appears the timing of the subject matter and the spirit in which these men spoke was perfect! Immediately after the Pastors left on Friday, about 80+ Sunday school teachers arrived on Monday for a week long conference. Again, teaching all day and preaching at night. Not surprisingly, the Lord blessed and many of these Sunday school teachers were taught how to creatively instruct children using the word of God and simple illustrations found around each of them. We have continued to labor with preparations for our general august conference. This will be our 20th anniversary celebration and we expect a large crowd to gather. Much time has been spent preparing a tabernacle, sleeping accommodations, cooking areas, and toilets in a way that will best allow the people to receive the word with all readiness of mind. The senior chief for the area toured his chiefdom this month. It was an exciting time to come and meet this man. After talking briefly, I was thrilled to find out he is a committed and dedicated Christian. We invited him to attend our Bible conference in which he stated he would not only come but be attending all week long. He discussed problems with witchcraft that still plague his people and seeing the gospel as the main way to liberate from such bondage! Please pray for the following: 1. The presence of God and his power at our upcoming August conference 2. Unity of the believers as we strive to mature and reach others 3. Many to be saved during the conference 4. The American team coming to help with the conference 5. Josphat Balamani went to be with Jesus. He left behind a wife and 5 children. I preached at the following churches this last month: 1. Katembula BBC 2. Mulowfa BBC 3. God's will BBC The Lord continues to challege each of us to a greater walk of faith - the work of the ministry is not without its challenges. Although some days seem more difficult than others serving the Lord and being a part of this wok in Africa remains my joy! Thank you for the many birthday wishes - I was overwhelmed at how many wrote specific letters, emails, phone calls, messages, etc.! As always - for pictures and week to week updates, please visit my blog at kevinpestke.blogspot.com. Take care and Lord bless Kevin Pestke Kafulafuta Baptist Mission PO Box 90247 Luanshya, Zambia Africa |
