Hola!

Sorry that it has been 2 weeks since my last update! I have been super busy, and sick to boot.

Praises:
* I had a very nice birthday. Some of the Moms of my class found out it was my birthday and gave me a surprise party. It was the first time! My birthday is so close to the beginning of the year that usually we don't have a celebration.
* We had Open House on August 29. I was able to meet many of the families of my students, though there were also several that didn't make it to the school.
* One more teacher was hired and has arrived to teach 4th grade.
* We had a bomb threat last week, but it was unsubstantiated and we were only 2 hours out of our classes. (Last time, we lost 4 hours of
school!)
* I was sick last week with laryngitis. I still went to school as we don't have extra teachers for subbing. My students were fantastic and really made an extra effort to be good!
* I have started taking Spanish classes with a one on one tutor. I am looking forward to learning more about Honduran homes as well as learning more correct grammar usage.
* One of my students is a diabetic. The first weeks were difficult to establish a routine and I was scared of causing him to go into shock or something. We have finally got a routine in place and it has really eased my mind.

Prayer Requests:
* Please pray for my sister, Allison. I found out yesterday that she had a cyst on one of her ovaries that burst.
* Pray for the salvation of my family members.
* Please continue to pray for new teachers to be hired. There are still 4 openings - 3 elementary and one High School English teacher.
* Please pray for Hector, a student from last year. I asked his parents to have him tested over the summer for learning disabilities.
He was diagnosed with Asbergers, a form of autism. Though my suspicions were correct, it will still be a difficult road of adjustment for him as his teachers figure out ways to overcome his problems.
* Please pray that I will know when to have grace with my students and when to stand fast to "the truth."
* Please pray that I will continue to figure out the balance of juggling all of the things that I know that I need to do each day, both as a teacher and as a child of God.

Thanks for all of your prayers. I know that God is faithful to listen!
