After our large conference here at Kafulafuta, we took a nine hour drive to the North West province to encourage a group of believers. The 500+ kilometer distance makes it prohibitive for most Zambians to reach Kafulafuta - myself and 4 others went to teach and preach for three days. There were approximately 100 in attendance, with 2 or 3 salvation decisions, 8 being baptized, and a real excitement coming from the believers. We emphasized the need to "be labourers together with God." This text from 1 Cor 3:9 really stimulated these believers to go throughout the areas of Mwinilunga and encourage those that have backslidden and help evangelize the lost. Praise the LORD - I continue to receive more letters from the men of the area at how God is blessing as many are getting saved, some are repenting, and fruit is coming forth. Among all of this, we had to confront issues brought about by a group of supposed "prophets" that were bringing false doctrine into the churches and luring many members away - it is quite satisfying knowing the truth will prevail and make men free from sin! Back at Kafulafuta, I received some more friends from the States. What a blessing to have friends and family visit - truly refreshing! I was able to take them to Kafue National Park to visit some of God's most amazing creation. We were in awe as we saw elephants, hippos, crocodiles, puku, impala, monkeys, and even got within 25 ft of a lion! Passed out many new testaments, tracts, John & Romans and spoke of Christ to those in the area. Upon our return, we had a deacon's seminar in which 41 men attended. Teaching was for 6 hour each day and preaching each night for 3 complete days. It was a fine spirit as the men seemed to really absorb God's word and desire to go back to their own churches as doers of the Word and not just hearers. Please pray for the following: 1. Bible Institute classes have begun - three new students are in attendance. Pray God will use our classes to equip these men to reach Zambia and beyond. 2. We have begun a small chicken farm project - pray for wisdom that will lead to success and in some way help supplement the running of the mission station. 3. Continue praying for the spiritual growth and maturity of the many members throughout our churches. 4. Pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace - that the believers would be more focused on fighting the devil, the world, and the flesh than fighting each other. As always, thank you for the many encouraging notes, emails, and phone calls - this ministry is a joint effort and will only continue forward through all of our efforts and prayers! To God be the Glory! Take care and Lord bless Kevin Pestke Kafulafuta Baptist Mission PO Box 90247 Luanshya, Zambia Africa |
