Good day (the standard greeting among Ukrainians), It has been a quiet week as I am house-sitting for the Beal’s while they are in Poland getting new visas for Cassia and Alexandria. A source of entertainment has been to watch the new kitten chase his own tail and scamper through the house. I have been able to finalize most of the plans for Vacation Bible School which is scheduled for the week of June 15-20. Please pray for us that week, as this is an area of town which is relatively new to outdoor children’s evangelism. All the men for the Carpathian Mountain Outreach branch of the ETO ministry have arrived and they boarded a train this morning for their first taste of this summer’s evangelism. They have several meetings already scheduled and pray to have more before by months end. Besides the new villages they will visit this year, they want to return to some of the towns they evangelized 3 or 4 years ago to follow up. They will again distribute tracts and Good and Evil booklets, as well as show a film. The movie Fireproof is available now in the Russian language, and the team will be showing this film interchangeably with The Light of the World as the situation warrants. Each evening after the film Joshua will preach a solid salvation message. Please pray for fruit from these meetings, and that some village churches can be formed as a result. The correspondence Bible course has just enrolled its 700th student. Of course, since their enrollment, some have dropped out, but just over half of these are still actively involved. About a year ago an inmate at the local prison was added to our course through an invite by a relative. This inmate referred the course to his cell-mate, who in turn signed up his friend, and so forth. We now have about 10 students from this prison enrolled. Several of these men have requested and been sent Bibles, and one man says that he is taking his study of the Bible very seriously. We are praying for a way to get into the prison and speak to these men personally. Thank you for the part you have in spreading the gospel throughout the world and especially to the nation of Ukraine. May God bless you as you serve Him on the mission field where he has placed you. “Faithful is he that called you, who will also do it” 1 Thessalonians. 5:24. Your fellowservant and missionary to Ukraine, Denise Hutchison |
