September Report: Before returning to the States we really put things in gear visiting multiple churches and teaching at many different locations. I was asked to preach the last message of a Sunday school conference in the bush in Kitwe West. There were 4 churches gathered with over 75 children in attendance. After the message, eight more children received Christ along with 3 adults. Although it was a long 4 hour drive down some really rough roads it is always a joy to be used of God as a minister of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18). The following week I was again give time during a conference to teach 25-30 different teachers from John 8.
We spent a lot of time getting the Bible Institute ready and the teachers equipped before our departure. Please be praying for our Zambian instructors as they step in and take more responsibility in both the teaching and the management of day to day decisions of the mission.
October Report:
Savannah and I returned to the States to attend two different mission conferences. The Lord has greatly blessed as we have built many new relationships and know so many more will be praying for the work in Zambia! We have tried to keep busy while being back in the States preaching in 9 different churches over the last 3 weeks. We count it a joy and great privilege to share what God is doing around the world and encourage others to make that essential prayer to the “Lord of the harvest”. In one church we saw the Lord work in the heart of a child as he has dedicated his life to serving on the mission field!
Savannah’s pregnancy seems to be moving forward with no complications. She is feeling and doing wonderful while making all the necessary adjustments to the changes that are occurring. We thank so many of you for your prayers and encouraging notes you have sent.
Please pray for one of the teachers at Kafulafuta Baptist Mission. He was recently beaten by a drunk man and hospitalized. Thankfully he was released the next day but it did take him a few days to fully recover from the attack.
I will be returning to Zambia at the end of November for 3 weeks while Savannah stays with her family in Mississippi. I will be taking part in the 2009 Bible Institute commencement along with helping to teach a seminar and preparing for the 2010 Bible Institute program. Please be praying for Savannah and I as we are apart for these couple of weeks. As we travel from church to church we are encouraging God’s people to be “salt and light” in this world. As Savannah and I pray for the harvest field in Africa we would ask you to join us in prayer… If we are going to be salt and light and reach this generation with the gospel message around the world, I am convinced God’s people must spend more time in that effectual fervent prayer. I would specifically ask that you pray…”that the word of the Lord would have free course, and be glorified.”
Thank you for your continued prayer, support and love!
Lord bless
Kevin & Savannah Pestke
