Praying for United States Elections

  1. Our Nation and the Issues It Faces. Pray for:
  • The leaders of this nation, to seek the wisdom that comes from above  (James 3:17).
  • The Lord to thwart the efforts of those who would remove religious freedom from our nation (Gal. 5:1).
  • Truth to become valued again in American society (John 8:32).
  1. The Election Process. Pray for:
  • Wisdom for voters and a safe and fair election (Prov. 3:21–23).
  • The Lord to remove those who might try to unjustly and illegally change the outcome of the voting. (Isa. 28:17).
  • A huge turnout of voters who use wisdom in their decisions.  (Prov. 4:5–6).
  1. Candidates and Leaders. Pray for:
  • The salvation of those who are in leadership in our nation. Ask the Lord to remove all selfish ambition (James 3:16).
  • Candidates to take brave stands for righteousness, even when it may not be well received (Isa. 7:9).
  • The Lord to surround them with godly advisors (Ps. 111:10).
  1. The Church. Pray for:
  • The churches in our community and area to preach the gospel of Christ powerfully (Rom. 1:16).
  • A desire for holiness in the Church in America (1 Peter 1:15).
  • The Lord to help strengthen the call to intensive prayer in the Church  (1 Tim. 2:8).
  • A movement of the Spirit in the United States, that would bring about a nation that has learned to put its hope in the Word of God (Rom. 12:2).
  • The Lord to awaken the Church spiritually.
