Most people save their home as a place of silence and solitude from all the world’s noise. We get home\, close the garage door\, and only emerge when leaving for work the next day. But God has higher plans and expectations for us. He wants us to be good neighbors and love those around us and live out the Gospel! \n  \nIn the book\, The Art of Good Neighboring\, we see a great truth when it comes to neighboring. \n“The journey begins when we choose a lifestyle of conversation and community over a lifestyle of busyness and accumulation. It’s about making room for life and choosing to befriend those God has placed around us… When Jesus was asked to reduce everything important into one command\, he gave us a simple and powerful plan that\, if acted on\, would literally change the world…The number-one obstacle to neighboring well is time.” \n  \nIn light of this concept’s importance\, we jumped into a four-week Sunday series called “Next-Door.” Here is the overview that will update weekly: \nWeek 1 (September 13): Love your neighbor\nAction Point: Join us in a Youversion Bible App devotional – click on the picture below to start the plan. We had over 280 people respond to take this step and begin praying for their neighbors. \n  \n \nLove Your Neighbor: Outreach\, One Step at a Time (5 Days)\nReaching out to your neighbors can be a counterintuitive thing to do. Most people who consider themselves Christians do not even think about stepping outside their ordinary responsibilities to follow the quiet nudges of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said\, “Love your neighbor as yourself\,” and He wants to show you the way—one small step at a time. \n  \nWeek 2:  (September 20): A Call to Prayer\nAction Points:  (1) Join us in a Youversion Bible App devotional – click on the picture below to start the plan. \n(2) Post a picture of the neighborhood you are praying for. The photo challenge is just an encouragement for us to walk our neighborhood and pray.  The two main things we can ask God to do are: \n1- For our neighbors to be open to the gospel when they hear it \n2- For God to give us boldness to share Jesus when an opportunity arises \nAs you walk\, take a photo of your neighborhood. For example\, it could be from the middle of your street showing all the way down the road— but be safe 🙂 and be aware of privacy.  Once you do\, upload your photo to the FBBC Commons page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/FBBCCommons). Let’s encourage one another as we pray for God to do a work in the lives of those closest to us! \n  \n \nPrayers for Your Neighborhood (30 Days)\nThere is something deep and transformational that happens when we walk the streets of our neighborhood while talking with God. You’re invited to make a 30-day “practice” by walking and praying through your own community. Let the adventure begin! \n  \nWeek 3: (September 27) The Power of Investing (Pt. 1)\nAction Point: Make/purchase a gift basket for a neighbor and deliver with the provided card. \nWhen God went about to show his love\, He didn’t write it in the sky or send each of us a Hallmark card. He DID something. He showed love through His actions. “But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us\, in that\, while we were yet sinners\, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) \nWe would all agree that talk is cheap and that love is a verb. This truth is also real as we learn to love our neighbors. Words of care are never as powerful as acts of kindness. As we continue in our NEXT DOOR series\, we will discover the power in investing in those close to us. Jesus called us to the privilege of loving those closest to us.  \nWe put together a simple card with (8) ways to love your neighbor.  \n \nThis is just a sample of ideas to get you thinking. We all know that investing can take creativity as you get to know your neighbors. We also designed some small cards that you can put in a neighbors gift basket. It includes a place for you to sign. This is what the card says: \n“As your neighbor\, we are aware of the extra strain and stress we are all experiencing in 2020. This gift is our way of letting you know our family is praying and cares about you!” \n  \n\nWeek 4: (October 4) The Power of Investing  Pt. 2)\nAction Point: Text the FIRST NAME of the person/people that you are investing in to (585) 332-2010.  We will then put them on our NEXT DOOR prayer wall. \n  \n \n  \nActions are the most significant evidence of love. Love does for others. Love craves opportunities to show kindness\, meet needs\, and uplift others. God calls us to love our neighbors in practical ways. Actually\, He commands it. When the Spirit of God enters someone’s life\, there is no other option but to love those in our lives. \nWeek 5: (October 11) Learning to Invite People to Christ\nAction Point: Use the “8 Ways to INVITE people to the Gospel card” to help you as you invest in your neighbors. \n \nRelationships are the foundation of all the influence we have on the lives of others. As we pray for and invest in others\, we have the responsibility to invite them to Jesus. This step can be scary\, but yet so simple. When we say INVITE\, we are talking about inviting others to the gospel or an event that would provide the gospel.  We do not need to be a theologian\, but we need to be ready for gospel opportunities. We would encourage you to prepare in three ways: \n1- Get better acquainted with the gospel story. Understand the basics that someone needs to know to trust Christ. It would help if you highlighted key verses like Romans 3:23 or Romans 5:8.  \n2- Write out your own salvation story. Writing your testimony will help you clarify what happened in your life when you trusted Christ. Your testimony is one of your most potent tools in sharing Jesus. \n3- Watch for events where someone else will present the gospel. These times can be a perfect chance to invite someone with less pressure on you. Major holidays like Christmas are perfect examples of an excellent setting for someone to hear how to be saved.  \nThere is probably no more incredible honor for a believer than to introduce someone to the Savior. We never know what God may be doing in the heart of those close to us. Our neighbors may be ready to make this incredible decision in their life.  If we prepare\, we can be ready to help them! \nWe anticipate God teaching us and moving us to be better neighbors who love people to the gospel. \n  \n[/vc_column][/vc_row]

In order to abide by socially distanced guidelines\, each group will have a maximum of 16 clubbers (144 clubbers Cubbies – T&T). All full-time volunteers serving on Wednesday nights automatically reserve a spot for their children. \nAwana Club will be on Wednesdays from 6:45 to-8:00 pm and will begin on 9/16. \nSocial Distancing Guidelines for Awana Club: \n\nAll leaders will wear a face covering when less than 6ft from clubbers and other adults.\nAll clubbers must bring a face covering. We will be creating a socially distanced club this year where clubbers won’t need to wear masks during club time. We will also be providing weekly materials for clubbers who choose the Awana at Home model and aren’t ready to come back to the club. In order to operate at maximum capacity this year\, we can still use some more volunteer leaders. Volunteers must commit and be approved by Sunday\, August 30th. We will have a limited amount of spots for each club. Any parent that volunteers full-time in one of our Wednesday ministries will be assured that their children have a spot in our Awana Clubs. \n  \nOne important change to the program this year will be the time. Together the campers explore the elements of EDGE (Experience + Discover + God+ Everywhere) through our adrenaline-filled\, creative Bible-based program that will bring your child closer to God. \nCamp includes crafts\, bible\, kickball\, gaga ball\, and many other fun filled activities. \nParents may register campers online (by clicking on the link below) to register online or by phone: Carla Bartello\, Camper Registrar\, (585) 746-8131. Registrations received after July 9th are not guaranteed a T-shirt since we order those in advance. Both registration and health information must be completed in their entirety. Campers shall have just completed one of the following grades: Kindergarten to 6th Grade in June. A non-refundable application fee of $10 per child\, with a maximum of $40 per family per household\, is due at the time of application. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt\, daily snack\, and prizes are awarded throughout the week. \nWhat to Bring \nClothing for camp should be labeled. Shorts should have a modest length. We plan to open up in phases\, hoping that restrictions do not tighten due to an adverse turn in NYS. Here is what the re-opening plan will look like: \n  \nPhase 1: Sunday\, July 26.  \n\nWe are opening childcare for ages 0-5. Spots need to be reserved on Eventbrite just as we do for sanctuary seating.\nWe are opening Summit Teens during both 8:30 and 10:30 services. Just as before\, they will begin in the sanctuary for the worship time.\n\n  \nPhase 2: Sunday\, August 9.  \n\nWe plan to add Grades 1-6\n\n  \nPhase 3: September 16.  \n\nWe plan to add Wednesday Childcare\nWe plan to add 8:30 childcare for all ages\n\n  \nYou can register your children for their class on Eventbrite. We listed their rooms and how many spaces are available on the same map you choose your sanctuary seat on. We are limited on space\, so it is first registered\, first served. \n  \nIf you have not been a volunteer in the past\, this would be a great time to be approved and jump in. We will be facing a volunteer shortage due to some who cannot return yet.  Fewer volunteers mean fewer kids who can attend. SUMMARY:Communion at Home
DESCRIPTION:Some may be asking if it is possible to take communion at home. We believe it is. While this may not be how it is done traditionally in church\, the Bible does not demand specific requirements for the juice\, bread\, or location. The idea was that there was a gathering of believers. Believers are gathered in their homes right now each Sunday. While this should not become our primary format\, we believe God gives us freedom for this in following the spirit of communion in our current circumstances. \n  \nWhat is communion all about?\nadapted from Life Church\n  \nThe primary instance of communion in the Bible is The Last Supper. It was Jesus’ last dinner with His disciples before He was killed. The story is found in Matthew 26\, Luke 22\, and Mark 14. It happened as part of the celebration of Passover\, which was actually a festival that began in the Old Testament period. Jewish people would have celebrated Passover as a way to remember how God rescued them from Egypt and spared their lives in so many ways. The eating of the bread and drinking of the wine (what we call communion) is still a regular part of celebrating Passover that Jewish people celebrate each year.\n  \nIn Luke’s Gospel\, he included a few more of Jesus’ words from that evening when he recorded “do this in remembrance of me.” Those six words\, and the Apostle Paul’s reminder in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26\, are the motivation for why we take communion together as Jesus followers. Jesus asked believers to carry out this pure tradition to remember that He gave His life for our sins. Like baptism\, communion is a spiritual symbol and reminder of what Jesus has done. \n  \nIdeas for Taking Communion at Home\n1. Use the Scriptures above to explain how communion came about\, who it’s for\, and what it’s for (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).\n  \n2. Jesus and His followers used wine and unleavened bread. Still\, it’s simplest to use grape juice and whatever bread or crackers you have available. Using juice is a great way to involve children while also being sensitive to anyone who might not drink alcohol. If you really want to use unleavened bread\, a matzo cracker is a great option. If you can’t find grape juice\, another juice will do. What’s important is focusing on the meaning of this spiritual symbol.\n  \n3. Ask one person to pray for the bread and lead the group in this first part of communion. Here’s an example:\nGod\, thank You for sending Jesus who not only lived for us but died for us. The Son of God\, who came in the body of a man\, gave Himself up so we could live! Thank You that His body was raised back to life. Thank You that because of the grace of Jesus\, we have life\, and we can live forever in You. Amen. [Go ahead and eat the bread.]\n  \n4. Next\, ask someone else to pray for the cup and lead the group in this second part of communion. Here’s an example:\n“God\, what an incredible picture this is of Your love for us. You allowed Your only Son to literally be poured out so that we could be in a fully restored relationship with You. Thank You\, Jesus\, for giving your blood. Amen.” [Go ahead and drink the cup.]\n  \n5. Remembering what Jesus did while taking communion can feel like a somber moment\, and that’s okay. But don’t forget\, this is an incredible reason to celebrate. Maybe someone can share a story of something that Jesus has restored in their life. Encourage each other to not just experience the symbol of communion but to live in its truth. We are set free because Jesus is alive and giving us life to the full. Communion is a beautiful way for followers of Jesus to do something He asked us to\, which is to remember what He did for us. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nSharing Salvation Testimonies online\n\nIt seems that Social media needs some GOOD NEWS. It was so good to listen to the testimonies from four of our FBBC friends on Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Hearing the experiences that God designs to bring people to the point of trusting Christ is so encouraging. Seeing as everyone in our world is currently online\, we thought it would be great to flood our social media feeds with more God Stories! Here are a few things to consider:\n  \n1- Keep it brief. We would hate for people to “scroll on” and before you finish your salvation story. A rule of thumb for length would be about 3-4 minutes max.\n2- Be precise. Share your circumstances before Christ\, how you trusted Christ\, and how God has changed your life since. \n3- Be Simple. Record on your smartphone. There is no need for high-end production. In our current situation\, organic is connecting best.\n  \nDon’t worry about your story being “boring” or “not as powerful” as someone else. Every story has an audience of people that will relate to it. Share it with confidence and joy. You can post to your own Instagram or Facebook feed. If you would\, tag the First Bible account\, and use a hashtag (#myGodStory) to bring continuity to all the stories. Emotionally\, society is experiencing fear and panic\, but on a deeper level\, mankind is being reminded of the frailty of life. The mission of the church is and has always been to step into these storms and act as the hands and feet of Christ. As a local extension of Jesus in Rochester\, it is our desire to have open eyes and hearts to those around us as we build bridges into the lives of others. \nWe recognize there are many in our community who cannot get out as easily as others to acquire basic necessities\, so here is what we’re doing: \nIN NEED OF HELP?\nDo you personally need groceries or toiletries and can’t get out to get them? Know of someone in need nearby you’d like for us to be aware of? \nWANT TO HELP – There are two ways! \n1. You can sign up below to be put on a list to bring essential needs to someone in need. \n2. serveROC Food Drop-Off – You can help us build pantry boxes to restock family shelves for those who cannot safely make it to the grocery store or who could use some help. \nOn Mondays and Thursdays from 4-6 pm\, we are hosting our “drive-through drop-off” at FBBC south entrance loop. Simply pull up along the sidewalk and unload – no extra human contact! Our volunteers will move your supplies and begin sorting. \n  \nItems you can donate: \n\nboxes of pasta\, pasta sauce\nmac n cheese\ncanned vegetables\, beans\ncanned soup\ncanned fruits\ncereal\npeanut butter and jelly\nsnacks\nliquid hand soap\, bleach\ntoiletries\ntoilet paper\, paper towels\n\nDoes your neighborhood have an app to stay connected? Now is a perfect time to solicit needs and prayer requests! Shannon Gallatin from Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes is our guest speaker and will share how you can flourish while we walk through the different seasons of life and even in the midst of life’s trials. \nShannon Gallatin\nBecause of God’s infinite grace\, I get to be the wife of the most wonderful pastor I know. I’m the mother of a little miracle and stepmother to a treasure. The Lord has used my past jobs of working with families affected by addictions\, abuse\, and other life tragedies\, to help oversee the women’s ministry at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes. I couldn’t be more thankful for the Lord’s entrustment to wear multiple hats of various sizes in the ministry of “life”.
