Reaching our world’s young people is very important. Did you know that 85 percent of all people who do not accept Jesus Christ by age 18 never will? That’s why Awana offers a series of clubs and programs geared to the needs of a particular age or grade.
What’s Awana? Awana (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) is an international organization for which our church has a chartered club, one of over 20,000 worldwide. (We have Awana clubs for ages three up to sixth grade that meet on Wednesday nights throughout the school year, September through May.) The purpose of this ministry is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him. We do this through games, devotional small groups, and age-appropriate handbooks of creative activities and cohesive lessons emphasizing the importance of God’s word for sound living.
It’s fun, exciting, and kids have a great time!
Awana Leadership opportunities: Leaders, Listeners, Secretaries, and general support — Do you like kids and want to invest in our future? Then this may be the ministry for you. If you’ve taken Reducing the Risk and think you might like to get more involved in ministry, Awana is a great place to start. Email Dillon Brisco for more information.
The ministry is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, September 12th, with a general meeting in the Cove for all leaders September 5th. All clubs from 3 years old to 6th grade begin on Wednesday, September 12th, at 6:45 pm. We do have an evening service that begins at 7:00 pm and ends a little before Awana does. That gives parents time to make sure their children get to where they need to go and still have time to relax and unwind in preparation for the service and also to be ready to pick up their children at the close of club.
